Are you more Highstreet or Highend?

I have been flicking through magazines to try and lull me off to sleep as I have a dreaded nighshift tonight. But instead of making me sleepy its just made my brain work harder.

This is an idea I have been toying with lately, I know when I sometimes read magazines (I wont name any) I see that they just give you the highend option, and if you are like me, I haven't got pots of money to play round with as I am still a student (I qualify in 7 months).

So I thought to these highend products that the magazines are spilling out, I would try and give a highstreet money saving option. We all love a cheaper option, to save money on other little luxuries such as shoes and dresses :)

Metallics have been every wear clothes, nail polishes and eyeshadows. I have been lusting after metallic eyeshadows, I have a number of gold shadows, bronze shadows...........But no silver. Here is my Highend option, Cristal Boreal eyeshadow is a dior product, as part of their Christmas 2009 looks. Its priced at a steep £19.50 for a single shadow.

Now for the Highstreet option and it comes fro L'Oreal. Here are what the L'Oreal say about their mono colour appeal shadows:

"Colour Appeal is a super smooth eye shadows designed to provide long lasting colour in a silky smooth formular. Also it doesn't crease."

This little gem will set you back back approximetly £3 - £5 a steal really.

Lip balms are a love hate relationship for me I have a tough time finding one I truly like. Highend is a Lip conditioner by Mac £10.50.

"A protective emmolient balm formulated with SPF 15, a sheer wash of colour and an all natural sheen. Conditions lips, locks in moisture. Contains almond oil, shea butter, avocado extract, wheat germ oil, vitamins a and e."

So what would be a worthy highend opponent? Sleek Pout Polishes

"Pout Polish contails an SPF 15 to protect your lips from harmful rays. Highly conditioning Pout Polish contains shea butter, almond jojoba and avocado oil to deeply nourish your lips so you can pucker up in confidence."

Have you noticed that the ingrendients are very similar to that of Mac's lip conditioners, but at £3.91 you can say no!

To finish off this post another Mac Product, in the form of theirLiquid Eyeliner. Priced at £13 its not too expensive and is a good product. Simple packaging makes it versatile.

The highstreet product is from a brand I dont really know W7, I havent heard much about them. The only place I found this product was on http://www.magicmakeup.com/. The liquid eyeliner cost less than 75% of Mac's product. This little recession busting beauty product costs a very cheap and cheerful £1.97. I know I cant believe it either!

I hope this little post has helped you, It was alot of fun to write.......I cannot believe how many beauty bargains there really are out there.

A xx

  1. I'm going to have to see if Sleek intend to come to the US anytime in the near future. I love the MAC lip conditioners, but half to a third of the cost, I'm sold on Sleek. :)

As a side note, I just started selling AVON products and am amazed (amazed! and trying to control the urge to buy it all) at their deals. They even do an Outlet brochure for things not sold from previous campaigns...for about 50-75% off. :) In case there's a Representative near you and you wanted to check it out. :)
