Are you more Highstreet or Highend?

I have been flicking through magazines to try and lull me off to sleep as I have a dreaded nighshift tonight. But instead of making me sleepy its just made my brain work harder.

This is an idea I have been toying with lately, I know when I sometimes read magazines (I wont name any) I see that they just give you the highend option, and if you are like me, I haven't got pots of money to play round with as I am still a student (I qualify in 7 months).

So I thought to these highend products that the magazines are spilling out, I would try and give a highstreet money saving option. We all love a cheaper option, to save money on other little luxuries such as shoes and dresses :)

Metallics have been every wear clothes, nail polishes and eyeshadows. I have been lusting after metallic eyeshadows, I have a number of gold shadows, bronze shadows...........But no silver. Here is my Highend option, Cristal Boreal eyeshadow is a dior product, as part of their Christmas 2009 looks. Its priced at a steep £19.50 for a single shadow.

Now for the Highstreet option and it comes fro L'Oreal. Here are what the L'Oreal say about their mono colour appeal shadows:

"Colour Appeal is a super smooth eye shadows designed to provide long lasting colour in a silky smooth formular. Also it doesn't crease."

This little gem will set you back back approximetly £3 - £5 a steal really.

Lip balms are a love hate relationship for me I have a tough time finding one I truly like. Highend is a Lip conditioner by Mac £10.50.

"A protective emmolient balm formulated with SPF 15, a sheer wash of colour and an all natural sheen. Conditions lips, locks in moisture. Contains almond oil, shea butter, avocado extract, wheat germ oil, vitamins a and e."

So what would be a worthy highend opponent? Sleek Pout Polishes

"Pout Polish contails an SPF 15 to protect your lips from harmful rays. Highly conditioning Pout Polish contains shea butter, almond jojoba and avocado oil to deeply nourish your lips so you can pucker up in confidence."

Have you noticed that the ingrendients are very similar to that of Mac's lip conditioners, but at £3.91 you can say no!

To finish off this post another Mac Product, in the form of theirLiquid Eyeliner. Priced at £13 its not too expensive and is a good product. Simple packaging makes it versatile.

The highstreet product is from a brand I dont really know W7, I havent heard much about them. The only place I found this product was on http://www.magicmakeup.com/. The liquid eyeliner cost less than 75% of Mac's product. This little recession busting beauty product costs a very cheap and cheerful £1.97. I know I cant believe it either!

I hope this little post has helped you, It was alot of fun to write.......I cannot believe how many beauty bargains there really are out there.

Beauty Judge and Sanctuary Bath Relaxer

Hello Girlies,

I have a secret to tell you! Ever heard of Beauty Judge!? Well you will have by the end of my post :)

Beauty Judge is a website dedicated to beauty reviews, and the honest truth. Whether a product you have used is brilliant or utter rubbish they want to know!

I recently won a competition on the website for the free product of the day. Mine was a Bath relaxer from Sanctuary. Here is my review on the product:

I was so lucky to win this product in the free product competition (Thank you so much Beauty Judge!). Before using the product I thought I would do a small bit of research into the product on The Sanctuary website. The product retails on the website for £4.99. This is what Sanctuary have to say about their product:

"The perfect bath time retreat for sublime relaxation. Emerge from your bath with delicately fragranced, satin soft skin."

The product is delicately fragranced without being too heady like alot of other bath products on the market. Your pour this product under hot running water and it sits above the water as it is an oil based product. When your using this product in the bath you can feeling it working immediately, your skin is being moisturised. The oil sits on the skin, and can feel slimy but this is the nature of any oil based product. There is no need to moisturise after the bath as the almond oil within the product has already done this for you. I recommend this as a once a week treat! It is very oily, but a real indulgence. Just be careful when getting out of the bath as will be slippery :) Thanks again Beauty Judge for sending me this lovely product xx

I urge you to take a visit to the website click here

Haul 004

Here I am again,

Since being missing, I have been spending instead of blogging.

I have been addicted to eyeshadows recently and I have been finding myself spending and spending.

First up is L'Oreal Colour Appeal in Real Silver, I am loving metallics recently and I usually stick to a safe Gold number but thought I would be daring and try Silver. It cost me around £4-5 and is quite pigmented:
Next up is Maybelline eyestudio mono in 412 Lagoon Blue. I am loving ocean colours and am planning to pair this blue with the L'Oreal Real Silver shadow :)

Last but not least I have seen these palettes all over the internet, these of course are the Sleek eyeshadow palettes, I bought the original pallet for about £4.88 I love it so much :)

At the moment I am totally addicted to nail polish, I think its because currently I cant wear nail polish at work as I am at the hospital and not uni :( as you tell by my eyeshadow purchases I am loving metallic and this shines through on one of my purchases from Gosh:
And the other is pink rose :)

I got another nail polish........I know what your thinking. Its from Miss Sporty in Superdrug and its gorgeous and unusual.

It cost me about £2 Bargain!!

I am still battling with my hair and its dryness so stick around I have some new products for my hair to review :)

Splendids and Bads V.004

Evening Ladies,

I am going through a spell of strange moods at the moment, I don't know what to put it down to at the moment, so I think I shall settle with the weather!

The winter nights are closing in on us ever so quickly in the UK, is it the same for you guys in the America's, Rest of Europe? I am not happy with this, as I don't want to move away from my bright summer colours, to the toned down, vampyness of winter :(

No great news on the love life, pah, I am giving up looking at the moment. I seem to attract strange people whom are needy and jealous..........NOT GOOD!

Splendids
  • Barry M 101 - Your probably thinking......you disliked this product a couple of weeks ago and granted I did. But now I have changed my mind, this is because I found away that suited me to wear it, I have to make sure my lips are exfoliated and well moisturised with lip balm then apply 101. But so far so good it is rivaling my Gosh Darling.
  • Garnier Pure Activ moisturiser - I was sent this buy a pr company awhile ago and have only just started using it really, and lets say it has made my weekend. I was very shiny Saturday and this was depressing me, so I tried this moisturiser and seemed to make my skin turn from shiny to matte in 1 min!

Bad

  • The weather is really getting me down, think I may be suffering from a touch of SAD :(

How have all your weekends been!? Great I hope......Take care

V05 Absolute Blonde Review

Long time no speak ladies!

Here is a quick review, as you know I have been testing different shampoos and conditioners aimed at us girlies with blonde locks.

I have tested John Frieda's Go Blonder range and I wasn't overly impressed, so now I am using V05's Absolute blonde collections. Now V05 say:

"Restore your hair’s natural beauty with this indulgent Elixir, containing extracts of Honey and Chamomile, to transform dull and brassy tones. It brightens and refreshes blonde hair tones, nourishing and strengthening your hair."

I started using the shampoo and conditioner about 2-3 weeks ago. The shampoo is clear has quite a floral smell but nothing too overbearing, the product lathered up in the hair nicely and wasn't too difficult to wash out.

The conditioner was a nicer consistency to the John Frieda, wasn't as thick and milky but light enough that you could use this as an everyday product, this impressed me.

My hair was left feeling lighter, and more nourished........could this be due to the 5 vital oils apparently in this product. My hair felt soft and smooth for once.

Price: I picked this up for £2.60 each. I was impressed with the price 5/5

Packaging: I could tell the difference straight away in the shower between the shampoo and conditioner. 5/5

Product: I am most probably going to buy this again, and will also recommend it as it moisturised my hair in one swoop. 4/5

Hello ladies,

This weekend has been a bit non stop, which has resulted in me getting the most hideous of colds. So at this current moment in time, my nose is so so blocked.
Sunday was interesting, I went to a dog show..........I know I am a sad sad person, but hey I enjoyed myself lol.....I sadly think its where I picked up my cold. My puppy dylan got so excited at the views of the other dogs. Here is a quick picture of my little guy:

Friday night I ventured out with my bestmate...........I hear myself cheer. We just went to our local pubs and nightclub. Nothing overly special! Heres some pictures

One of My close friends Richard...silly face

Dan is leaving me to go to OZ :(

Aaron, Myself and Nadiya <3>

To finish of last night I was strolling round Tesco (It's a supermarket in the UK) I was looking at the cosmetics section where I found an uber cheap brand called Wet and Wild. I picked my an eyeshadow duo for £1.98!

As you can see for £1.98 this eyeshadow duo is uber cheap and uber pigmented! A review for this little beauty will be coming soon :)

Haul 003 pt 2

Hi welcome back!
Yes I have more to my haul and indeed I think I may have gone a little over board! But never mind about that!

So next on the agenda is this lovely product from the body shop!

Its a Blush trio in Cool Dusk, which cost me around £12.50. Here is what I managed to get from the website about the product!

With moisturising, skin softening organic cupuassu butter made from the seeds of the Amazon native cupuassu fruit. Contains Community Trade moisturising marula and sesame seed oil.

So its a blusher which also inturns moisturises!? Wow this must be worth it!

Say hello to Maybelline's Colour Sensational Lipstick in Ambre Rose (No. 112)

Its a gorgeous shimmery pink, which glides on the lips with such ease, and is neither too drying or too slick!

So thats my Haul!

Haul 003

Hello!
Gosh today was my first day back to university after an extremely long summer. I will warn you now that this is going to be quite a picture heavy post as my friend has returned my camera :)

After my lecture on "How to care for the patient in an Intensive/Critical Care setting" had finished I decided to go treat myself in the town where my University is placed (Ha not letting on to where that is as it is extremely dull!)

Mac was my first stop, the girls on my local mac counter are gorgeous and so happy to help, and of course always full of gossip on the comings and goings of the town and university. I originally wanted the Notoriety palette but to my dismay, they had sold out earlier in the day. Darn! So I decided to go for a single eye shadow: Retrospeck.

I have wanted some different shades of lipsticks for while now, I wanted to experiment and try and get away from all my nude shades, such as my Gosh Darling and Barry M 101 (Which is uber drying!!).

So I bought a lipstick from boots own brand 17 in the colour, its from the shine on collection and is in the colour Heather Pink.

This product is cheap it cost me no more than £3, and is uber pigmented!!
Check out what else is in my haul in part 2, I went a little over board!

China Glaze Review

Hi again :)

I know this has been a review which is probably long awaited, for that I apologize. I purchased China Glaze Polish in Mediterranean Charm.

I am afraid to say this post will have no pictures, as I have left my camera at my friends!

I have had a bad relationship in the past with China Glaze, I bought Tempest which is a purple shimmer shade.........hoping it would be an opaque application, I was disappointed to discover it was very sheer.

I bought Mediterranean Charm in Sally's for about £5 for a 10ml bottle. It is a Red/Pink shade.

On application I was thrilled to notice the opaque coverage this product delivered! 2 coats of course is standard with a clear top coat to seal the deal.

I decided to test the longevity of the product on my toes, and I am extremely thrilled to reveal it has been chip resistant for up to 7 days :)

Now to deliver a con on this product, and this is the brush size! The brush is very thin which for me (I'm not an expert at applying nail polish.......I am a tad messy) a bit difficult.

But I never let this get me down, as I absolutely love this product and the colour, and it looks fantastic with a tan!!

Price: 4/5 Barry M Nail Paints are better value for money, but still a good price at about £5.

Packaging: 5/5 The outside packaging is good you can see the product and the cap is designed for maximum comfort when applying.

Product: 4/5 I do love this product, and will probably repurchase, it is just the brush that let it down in my eyes sadly.

Update

Hi girlies,

Its already the middle of the weekend, which im quite happy about! I know your probably thinking, are you joking...........but this weekend has been very dull!

I go back to University on Monday, and I have not prepared at all. So tomorrow I will have to buy some stationary.

To celebrate making it to our 3rd year of university my friend Nicki and I went out on Thursday for some drinks..........random unplanned nights certainly are the best!

I picked up some new products from The Body Shop which I will review in due course!

There will be a China Glaze review shortly too! So tell me, how are your weekends going?

John Frieda Go Blonder Review

Hi,

Ok so as the title tells, yes I am doing a review on John Frieda's Go Blonder Shampoo and Conditioner. Now I purchased these products from Boots (a drugstore) for about £5.50 each.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde® Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo gradually lightens natural, colour-treated and highlighted blonde hair. With citrus extract and chamomile, the gentle formula improves the healthy look of your hair by tightening the cuticle and strengthening the shaft. The shampoo is ammonia and peroxide-free so is gentle enough for daily use.

That is what the company say about their products. My hair tends to feel dry and straw like if I don't use a good conditioner, and I usually just use a treatment mask as many conditioners do not moisturise my hair enough.

The shampoo is bright yellow in colour, and extremely thick. But worked very well into a lather, the scent wasn't too overpowering either.

The conditioner was a thick milky type product with the same scent as the shampoo.

Overall I am sadly not impressed. My straw like hair is still sadly very straw like so not amused. Also I wasn't overly struck by the scent of the product.
I was talking to Cat from http://swirledpeacat.blogspot.com/ (you must visit), and she recommended Sunsilks range of Blonde shampoos and conditioners, so that is my next experiment.
So currently what is your hair routine, what products to you lovely ladies swear by?

Love CV

Ok so my housemate/best mate has gone away for 2 weeks to turkey, thus leaving me on my own! Not a problem I'll cope. While talking with one of my friends I ask whether it is capable for one to have a Love CV.

What type of men do we go for? Our conquests? Our mistakes? This lead me onto some thinking, I am single at the moment and have no intentions on going back to what I had finished. But is it wrong to maybe go back to someone you had been "seeing" when you were say 16?

And this again had lead me on to some more thinking, What is my type? Do I actually have a type? Because I have had some relations with 2 drummers and 2 footballers, I am thinking I prefer footballers but still does a type actually exist?

This is alot of thinking and questions for 01:05 am. So do you agree that in life we "abstractly" have a Love CV, and also what is your Ideal man? Think mine would have to be Danny Dyer or John Rhys Meyers or Frank Lampard the list is endless

ELF Blush and Bronze Compact Review

Hello again,

ELF's studio line came out at the either the beginning of July or the end of it..........to be truthful I cannot actually remember.

ELF state that their new Studio Line Range give you "A Professional Look", So I was eager to take a look at the new product range (I know I'm a little behind with this review but hey whatever!).

Looking at the website sadly I was not overly impressed, but that does'nt say I didn't want anything. The Blush and Bronze Compact initially caught my eye:
See from the picture I assumed that the blush was a rosy pink and the bronzer is a light brown, I was so very wrong.

The pictures on ELF seem to be lighter than real. The blush is more of reddier pink with shimmer, needless to say I do like the colour but of course less is more with this product. The Bronzer is way too dark for my fair skin so I have not attempted to find a use for this.

Price: 5/5 Its excellent value for money at £3.50

Packaging: 5/5 Its sleek :)

Product: 3/5 It was darker than pictured on the Website, this didnt impress me. Too much fallout from product, as soon as my brush touched the product that was it it just powders everywhere.

So have you been impressed by ELF Studio Line?

Update

Today is my day off, having to spend in doors annoyingly. I am currently at my fathers home.......I live in two places with my loooooovely housemate and at my fathers! So I am currently rearranging the room and tidying UBER ANNOYING!!

I was surprised at the postman this morning, I have a package.......yes I love packages in any form with lots of goodies inside!

The package was from Garnier (or people who deal with them!) with their new range for me to try.......I think I am so behind with this as loads of bloggers have already tried and tested the new range: Pure Active

I was sent:

  • Deep Pore Unclogging Wash

  • Blackhead Clearing Scrub

  • Spot Purifying Toner

  • Spot-on Roll-on rapid soothing relief

  • Spot Fighting 24hr Moisturiser

I can't really say I have spot prone skin, but I do have a blackhead problem that annoys the hell out of me. So I will give these ago.

Blonde Battle!

Ok so over my normal cup of lady grey tea this morning I was thinking. I love my blonde hair, it suits my complexion my green eyes, and the make up I own and use (I was thinking about dying it brown like my brother and sister!).

But I bought the John Freida Go Blonder shampoo and conditioner, so I am going to try out a new "Blonde Enhancing" shampoo and conditioner when each runs out. Then give my verdict on what ones I believe truly work.

This is probably going to be a long process, but tell me what do you think, will I be fighting a loosing battle?

Haul in the real world <3

Today has been a fairly productive day for me, indeed as the title shows I have been shopping! I get paid weekly which is very good for me and my spending habits. Sadly this is not a clothing haul as at the moment I have placed myself on a ban. My house mate and I are of the same size so we share most of our clothes as we are like sisters <3>
I love department stores such as Fenwicks and Debenhams!! I lose myself in them, probably could spend a whole day in them.

The Benefit counter was my first port of call, I originally wanted to pick up Benetint but I was put off for some reason. But that doesn't mean my visit was wasted! I found such a cute perfume

I apologize now for the bad quality of pictures my camera is not good!

The perfume is called "Laugh with me Lee Lee" The packaging is a gorgeous and is actually a work of art!

The is even a poem on the back of the bottle! It is so darling. There are 3 perfumes in the collection:

  • Laugh with me Lee Lee

  • Something About Sofia

  • My Place or Yours Gina

Laugh with me Lee Lee is floral as well as woody...........the scent is meant to represent an English Garden! My advice is to test these fragrances they are delightful.

The next item is a hair product, I have blonde hair with highlights too. I saw the advert that suggested this product would gradually lighten my hair as well as replenish my hair with moisture!

I will of course review this product when I have used it sufficiently!

So here is the question..........what is your favourite fragrance and why?

Thanks :)

To Nars or Not to Nars?

I would not say I am having a major dilemma, but I am persuading myself more and more to buy a Nars Blush, because a girl cant have too much blush!

At £18.50 they are a little steep, but it is something that of course I pretty much would wear everyday (see I am persuading myself even more).

So here are my choices:

Nars Orgasm - described as being a peachy pink with shimmer

Nars Deepthroat - peach with a shimmer

Nars Mata Hari - Rose Petal Pink with a shimmer

Nars Angelika - Cottoncandy

I may have to go to bluewater to make my choice, but what do you think? Do you have a Nars blush if so what do you think?

Have a good night my lovelies

Splendids and Bads Volume 1

This week I haven't been so busy. Working at the hospital really does take its toll on you, not only physically but emotionally and mentally.

Dates have been the words on everyone of my friends lip this week, my friend Nadiya is seeing a guy whom is utterly delicious (lucky lady) and he treats her like a princess (What she totally deserves). Its rare to find a guy these days who really is a gentlemen.

My first "Splendid and Bad" post is obviously my twist of Ins and Outs, so I will discuss my favourite things and least.

Splendids

  • Gosh Darling - My friends and I have coveted this lipstick as the "first date" lipstick.
  • China Glaze Mediterranean Charm -As you can probably tell from an earlier post I have been so impressed by this polish.
  • Elf Studio Blush and Bronze Compact - This is great value for money at £3.50 (Review coming soon!)
  • Men actually acting like gentlemen <3>

Bads

  • Having no money, there is so much I want to buy, Nars hmmmm I so deserve it.
  • Meddling exes, poking their noses in where its not welcome.........Not Good!
  • The lack of Summer, I like the weather hot hot hot!

China Glaze.........love or hate?

Hi girlies,

I shouldn't of spent anymore money this week, but just could not seem to help myself.

My friend Char and I took a trip to our local Sally's store, as she needed to pick up some waxing equipment. I spotted the China Glaze stand, I went to have a peak.

I have only one other China Glaze product, It the polish called Tempest (Here is a quick Pic).

Now when I tried this nail polish back in about March time, I was not impressed. It is the most gorgeous Purple shimmer in the bottle, but when applied to the nail it is incredibly sheer.

It took me 3-4 coats to get a more opaque cover. This completely ruined China Glaze for me.............or so I thought.

I was looking in particular at the Corals, Pinks and Reds, and I came across the most rich Red/Pink creme nail polish in the range. I had to have it........or I'd be thinking about it all weekend, then would have been driven mad until I had bought it.

Introducing Mediterranean Charm:

On the first application there it was an amazing burst of colour, two coats of the polish is enough for an even bright finish. I was so so impressed by the application of this creme polish by China Glaze. I believe that this could be the difference between the two finishes of shimmer and creme. Shimmer is sheer and Creme opaque maybe?
I will review this product later on to determine chip resistance :)
So tell me, what are your opinions on China Glaze do you love it or hate it

Shoes.............In the real world?

Today is my last day off from work, sadly I have to be up bright and breezy tomorrow. I decided to hop along to TK Maxx for a spot of shopping..........mainly to try and find the St. Moritz Tan everyone has been giving good reviews. But sadly my trip was wasted on the tan front.

Strolling throught the clothes rails, there was nothing that jumped out at me. Then there they were, the holy grail of shoe or should I say stiletto's here they are:

I adore them.

Another quick photo.....while I was cleaning my laptop today of photo etc. I found this picture from Halloween its of my puppy dog dylan dressed up

So if you read this leave me a comment..........what was the best date/"getting to know you session" you have ever been on? Or if your brave, what is the worst?
